Sierra Mile Needs Volunteers - Sat., June 2, 9am - noon

Our next cleanup of the Sierra Mile is set for this coming Saturday (June 2).  The Sierra Mile is the nickname for Mile 21 South, stewarded by Sierra Race Walkers.  We are struggling to find volunteers to meet our commitment of 20 hours per quarter.

Meet at the Fish Hatchery at 9am and we’ll go from there.  Wear washable long sleeves and pants with sturdy shoes.  Be sure to dress in layers so you can adjust as the day warms up.  Bring your own work gloves and drinking water.  Don’t forget sun block.  We’ll provide the garbage bags.

What treasures will we find?  Past outings have revealed a secret cave, a beaver dam, an antique icebox, and oh yes, trash

Remaining Sierra Mile cleanups this year:

  • Summer Cleanup – Sat, June 2 -- National Trails Day
  • Fall Cleanup – Sat, Sept. 15 – GARCU
  • Winter Cleanup – tbd – we’ll pick a date
